My Story

Christina Young G Kim Washington DC

I am a traveling cacao artisan and alchemist, private cacao seed to bar creatrix, recipe developer and consultant, examining the existential question of the meaning of life, rooted in intentional living and consciousness through cacao.

My work stems from ancient and modern philosophy, mysticism and spirituality, current scientific research and evidenced based practices, and my own fieldwork with cacao farmers, local farms, and local community.

I have been blessed to be invited to visit cacao farms in Puerto Rico and Peru, a 5,000 year old archeological site in Peru, and meet kind humans all over the world.

For large orders, cacao recipe development, and specialty items please email me :)

Direct Relationships.

It all began with human connection and direct relationships, building my life around meaningful decisions and actions.

I learned that life itself is like chocolate making: I became the creator of my reality. Letting go of attachments to the outcome and being in the moment, became a daily practice. A former self proclaimed nihilist burnt out by the health industry, I taught myself the art of bean to bar chocolate making process through a rabbit hole of research and experimentation, and fell completely in love with it. I became enchanted by the super power sacred plant medicine Cacao, a tropical fruit that chocolate is made from. I first experienced its powers by making DIY Ferrero Rocher for my sister's birthday in 2017, tapping into my artistic side - something I had repressed since childhood. From then on, cacao was the creative vehicle for voice and heart. This process of intuitive personal meditation with cacao was a beautiful and transformative ritual to connect with my soul, and allowed me to live my life with passion. After a cacao meditation I felt tunnel vision clarity and as if walking on air, I found a self fulfilled joy that kept happening over and over. Since then, I have shared my wellness teachings with others from family, friends, Uber drivers, to perfect strangers, children, art therapy groups, online, in schools, businesses and local urban farms. My most rewarding experience was teaching about cacao and health to the indigenous cacao farmers in Peru with supply company Collective Bean. Chocolate is a language everyone understands, and behind it is the message of love and connection. Incorporating ancient and modern philosophy, spiritualism, herbalism, astrology, tarot, crystals, kundalini, breathwork, and sound healing practices became my personal formula for navigating life’s celebrations, challenges, and the mundane.  I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology Columbia University, BS in Nursing Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Medical Cannabis Nurse Certification, Integrative Nutrition Wellness Coach certification, National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer certification, and hold regular events at Common Good City Farm and Eaton Workshop DC. I’m a manifesting generator, double taurus with moon in Scorpio, and dance with the frequencies of life.

Since 2000 BC, the ancient Mayan civilization used cacao as a ceremonial beverage, and it was known as a "food of the Gods" due to its healing abilities."The divine drink, which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink [cocoa] permits a man to walk for a whole day without food,” Montezuma II (1502-1520). Between the 16th and 20th centuries, well over 100 cases for cacao and chocolate as a medical treatment have been documented. Based on much evidence-based research today, cacao is a nutrient dense powerhouse that improves heart and cognitive functions,  stimulates the nervous system, improves digestion and elimination, with very few side effects. It's no wonder people love chocolate today, even in its candied form. Cacao seed is one of the best sources of phenolic antioxidants in the world (7x red wine!), contains theobromine, anandamide, magnesium, copper, iron, and small amounts of caffeine. Pure cacao has 4x the amount of polyphenols as dark chocolate. Cacao is also used today as a meditation enhancer due to its heart opening abilities. Please consult with a physician for any medical questions or interactions.
